ABOUT JULIA

​Julia Breanetta Simpson is a wife and mother of two fabulous humans. Growing up in North Carolina the eldest of seven, Julia has been a mom her entire life and is fiercely protective of all those she loves! From a young age Julia learned responsibility, developed organizational skills and nurtured her creativity through cooking, baking, sewing, decorating, and directing her siblings in shows, regardless of whether they wanted to participate. She knows how to run a tight ship! Julia embraces a healthy lifestyle that includes many forms of exercise – light weight training, power walking, yoga, Pilates and dancing ‘til she drops!

An actress and singer equipped with a BFA from Syracuse University, Julia has appeared around the country at Regional, Dinner and Stock Theatres and Festivals as well as various Off-Broadway Theatres and Cabaret venues in New York City. She is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and Actors’ Equity Association, where she served on the Council for 23 years.

An entrepreneur, Julia created Breanetta Productions to highlight contributions made to society and world culture by African Americans with her concerts, CDs and one-woman shows. “Classy & Sassy: A Lena Horne Tribute!” pays homage to Lena Horne, singer, actress, civil rights activist and the first black female movie star. “Harlem On My Mind,” is a musical journey through the Harlem Renaissance; and “How Sweet The Sound,” traces the evolution of American music from the time of slavery up to the Jazz Age.

Julia’s voice has been described as direct, nurturing, warm, convincing, tough and upbeat – traits that fit naturally in her favorite genres of Historical and Literary Fiction, Christian Romance, Memoirs and Self-help/Personal Growth. Passionate and generous, Julia can be relied on to perform with energy, skill and enthusiasm. Whether on stage or on the mic, creating and performing diverse, multi-layered characters is a gift that Julia feels blessed to share with the world.
